093V Case Study: St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church

burr ridge, il

The St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church was originally built in 1983 and recently underwent a 19,000 square foot addition. 550 members are now able to attend services comfortably. A designated community space as well as an area for Sunday School was incorporated into the design. The church is located on an impressive 8.5 acres of development and features a 70 foot tall tower made of beautiful stone.

With large runs of drywall in the building, expansion was a concern for Caasi Construction. Without taking measures to protect the building from expansion, cracking or drywall buckling may occur. Caasi Construction installed 093V Expansion to protect the building from the effects of expansion. 093V Expansion provides up to 3/8" in controlled movement and features a tear off strip to protect the center from mud and also act as a guide for a taping knife.
